Varieties of hosting services

A hosting solution applies to hoarding and/or sharing specific content on a hosting server handled by a hosting vendor. There are different classes of hosting services used for different ends, so let's study these. Thus, you can determine what you want, on the basis of whether you desire to set up a web site, mailbox accounts, or to share files with chums and associates.

- File hosting: a solution offered by certain hosts, which permits you to share big files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived files, etc. This service is also known as file storage, and its only goal is to share files, since it does not support web site uploading. As soon as the files are uploaded, you will either receive an accidentally generated download link for each of them, or you will be able to read a list of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to open .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free file hosting services are frequently supported by showing ads next to the download links, while a timer makes you wait for a given span of time to perceive them. A single file can be downloaded with restricted speed. If you run a paid file storage account, there are no restrictions as to how many files you can upload/download right away, and also there is no limit as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

These days, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting merchants, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more fashionable "cloud hosting". This is an entirely incorrect explanation of the real connotation of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting environment would allot the load between separate hosts of hosting servers in a cluster, which are dedicated to serving miscellaneous webspace hosting services (mail, disk storage, stats, DNS, databases, web site hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting solution is simply a variety of a disk storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: similar to file hosting; certain firms offer a hosting service for images solely. This hosting kind is appropriate if you would like to share a great quantity of pics with chums or associates since the service is typically free. You will obtain a randomly generated link for every pic or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file hosting solution, .html and .php files are not supported, so the service cannot be utilized for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a solution devoted to taking care of your email accounts. Some distributors offer website hosting solutions for websites, but do not offer an e-mail hosting solution. If you would like to own an email address with your domain name but do not want to possess a web site, then the email hosting solution is what you want. You can open email mailbox accounts and manage them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The e-mail hosting service includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP servers.

- Video hosting: this service permits you to upload and share videos. You can either share a link to a given video, or you can embed the video file in your website that is hosted somewhere else. The benefit of using this approach in lieu of uploading the video clip in a web hosting account is that the video generates a certain amount of CPU load, so with several videos and several hundred web page visitors, you may have difficulty with your web space hosting reserves. Embedding the video file will enable you to possess as many videos as you would like without bothering about system reserves.

- Web hosting: this is the service that you require if you would like to have a website. To some extent, it includes all of the aforesaid hosting sorts since, along with your web pages, you can also host pics and files, you can run databases and email addresses, upload video clips, etc. At ServiceBlitz, for example, you can view web hosting and dedicated server hosting accounts that permit you to get all of the aforesaid solutions in one single place. There may be limits depending on the form of hosting service that you've picked - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your webspace hosting plan may be better or worse compared to the ordinary e-mail/file/video/image hosting accounts that are tailored for particular content solely.
